फुटो आँख विवेक की, लखें न संत असंत ।
जिसके संग दस बीच है, ताको नाम महन्त ।।

जिसके ज्ञान रूपी नैन नष्ट हो गए हैं वह सज्जन और दुर्जन का अंतर नहीं बता सकता है और सांसारिक मनुष्य जिसके साथ दस-बीस चेले देख लेता है वह उसको ही महन्त समझा करता है ।

बूँद पड़ी जो समुद्र में, ताहि जाने सब कोय ।
समुद्र समाना बूँद में, बूझै बिरला कोय ।।

यह तो सम्पूर्ण जीव जानते हैं कि समुद्र में पड़ी बूंदे उसमें समा जाती हैं, किन्तु यह विवेकी ही जानता है कि किस प्रकार मन रूपी समुद्र में बिंदुरूपी जीवात्मा परमात्मा में लीन हो जाते है ।

माला फेरत जुग भया, फिरा न मन का फेर ।
कर का मनका डार दे, मनका मनका फेर ।।

माला फेरते-फेरते युग व्यतीत हो गया, परंतु जीव के हृदय में कोई नवीन परिवर्तन नहीं हुआ । कबीरदास जी कहते हैं कि हे जीव, मैंने माला के रूप में ईश की बहुत दिनों तक आराधना कर ली और अब इस आराधना को छोड़कर हृदय से भगवान की थोड़े समय तक आराधना कर ।

मूँड़ मुड़ाये हरि मिले, सब कोई लेय मुड़ाय ।
बार-बार के मूड़ते, भेड़ न बैकुण्ठ जाय ।।

कबीरदास जी कहते हैं कि सिर के बाल कटवाने से यदि भगवान प्राप्त हो जाए तो सब कोई सिर के बाल कटवा कर भगवान को प्राप्त कर ले । जिस प्रकार भेड़ का तमाम शरीर कई बार मूड़ा जाता है तब भी वह बैकुण्ठ को नहीं प्राप्त कर सकता है ।
